Over My Dead Body vince la 6ª edizione del Monza Film Fest

Over My Dead Body wins the 6th edition of the Monza Film Fest

On Friday, October 2nd, 2026, Capitol Anteo SpazioCinema in Monza hosted the closing night of the 6th edition of the Monza Film Fest, marking the end of a year of selections, six bimonthly competitions and short films from all over the world.

Hosted by Claudia Elda Gurzì, the event brought the festival back in front of a live audience and onto the big screen, celebrating the movie theater as a place where films, filmmakers and audiences can meet.

The evening opened with Artistic Director Marco Virgilio and Deputy Artistic Director Giacomo Tosi, who joined the host on stage to look back at the journey of the sixth edition and introduce a night that represented both the conclusion of a year-long festival and the beginning of a new chapter.

The event was also attended by Arianna Bettin, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Monza, who highlighted the importance of the movie theater and the value of a festival that, despite living throughout the year in the digital world, chose to put the audience and the theatrical experience at the heart of its final event. She also expressed the hope that this edition will be only the first step in a long-lasting collaboration between the Monza Film Fest and the Municipality of Monza.

The screenings began with the Best Lombard Nominees and Best Italian Nominees, presented through two special montages celebrating the films selected throughout the year. Mamma by Mike Montagna was named Best Lombard Short Film, while Il fantasma di carta by Fulvio Davide Ricca received the award for Best Italian Short Film. Both winning films were then screened in their entirety.

The program continued with Radio Perla del Tirreno by Noemi Arfuso, presented with a Special Mention resulting from the collaboration between the Monza Film Fest and CortoCircuito, followed by the six short films that won the six bimonthly competitions of the 2025/2026 season.

A total of nine short films were screened in their entirety, and this year the final decision was placed directly in the hands of the audience. Everyone in the theater was invited to vote for their favorite film and choose the overall winner of the sixth edition.

This year’s winners:

  • Best Film of the Festival – Audience Award: Over My Dead Body by Daniel Sadler and Erica Rowe
  • Best Italian Film: Il fantasma di carta by Fulvio Davide Ricca
  • Best Lombard Film: Mamma by Mike Montagna
  • Special Mention: Radio Perla del Tirreno by Noemi Arfuso

The victory of Over My Dead Body brought a twelve-month journey to a close, but the Monza Film Fest is already looking ahead.
